This incredible bridge ’dives’ between Denmark and Sweden
Cây cầu kỳ vĩ "lặn" từ Đan Mạch đến Thuỵ Điển
If you didn’t miss geography class in school, then perhaps you remember that Denmark and Sweden are separated by a narrow strip of water — the Øresund strait.

Of course, on the map it may look narrow, in reality it’s 16 kilometres wide. In the past, the Danes and the Swedes traversed this distance by using ferries, but the journey took a long time. The decision was taken to build a bridge — one which is truly unique.
Tất nhiên trên bản đồ, khu vực này có thể trông rất hẹp, trên thực tế nó rộng 16 km. Trong quá khứ, người Đan Mạch và người Thuỵ Điển đi qua đây bằng phà, nhưng mất nhiều thời gian. Người ta đã quyết định xây dựng một cây cầu - cây cầu thực sự là độc nhất vô nhị.

The bridge is gigantic, boasting a four-lane highway as well as a railway on two different levels.

Cây cầu khổng lồ, kiêu hãnh với đường cao tốc 4 làn xe cũng như đường sắt nằm trên 2 tầng khác nhau.

This first part of the bridge comes to an end on an artificial island in the middle of the strait. The road smoothly disappears under the ground into a tunnel.

The unusual design was chosen in order to avoid blocking the path of planes which land at the nearby Copenhagen airport, as well as to allow space for ships to sail across the strait.

Phần đầu bên này cây cầu chạy dài đến điểm cuối nằm trên một hòn đảo nhân tạo giữa eo biển. Con đường từ từ chìm dần vào trong lòng đất qua một cửa hầm.

Thiết kế phi thường này được chọn nhằm tránh cản đường máy bay hạ cánh xuống phi trường Copenhagen gần đó, cũng như chừa chỗ cho tàu thuyền qua lại eo biển.

The bridge looks especially impressive when viewed from the air.
