Differentiate between "get the best of" and "get the best out of"
Phân biệt "get the best of" và "get the best out of"
English has a lot of commonly confused words. They either look alike, sound alike or, worst of all, look and sound alike but have completely different meanings. "Get the best of" and "get the best out of" are written so similarly that they are often confused.
Tiếng Anh có rất nhiều những từ thường dùng sai. Trông chúng hoặc giống nhau, hoặc có vẻ giống nhau, hoặc, tệ nhất là, hình thức cũng như phát âm giống nhau nhưng ý nghĩa hoàn toàn khác. "get the best of" và "get the best out of" viết giống nhau nên thường hay bị nhầm lẫn.
"To get the best of someone" means to overcome him in some way or fool him somehow.

Ex: Cancer has got/gotten the best of him.
"To get the best of someone" có nghĩa là hạ gục; đánh bại; áp đảo; chế ngự; lừa phỉnh; bỡn cợt một người

Ví dụ:  Bệnh ung thư đã hạ gục anh ấy.
Take a deep breath. Don't let stress get the best of you. If you pretend to be calm, you might actually achieve it. Fake it till you make it. -



Hít một hơi thật sâu. Đừng để stress áp đảo bạn. Nếu giả vờ bình tĩnh, bạn có thể bình tĩnh thật. Hãy giả vờ cho đến khi bạn đạt được điều này. -
The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it.


Cách duy nhất để cãi thắng là tránh đừng cãi nhau.
"To get the best out of someone" means to somehow encourage that person to produce his best effort; achieve the greatest output of work, effort, production, etc., out of someone

Ex: My son's music teacher was always able to get the best out of him.
"To get the best out of someone"  nghĩa là khuyến khích một người cố gắng hết sức; khuyến khích một người bộc lộ cái hay nhất của mình; bộc lộ hết khả năng của mình


Ví dụ:  Thầy dạy nhạc của con tôi luôn có thể khuyến khích nó bộc lộ hết khả năng của mình.

Làm thế nào để đồng đội bộc lộ hết khả năng của mình?
You get the best out of others when you get the best out of yourself.


Bạn sẽ làm người khác bộc lộ được hết mọi điều tốt đẹp của họ khi bạn bộc lộ được hết mọi giá trị tốt đẹp của chính mình.
To get the best out of SOMETHING means to make something appear as good as possible; to exploit something; to get as much out of something as is possible

Ex: My husband was always able to get the best out of our vacations by relaxing, whereas I seemed always to be tense because of chasing after our children.
To get the best out of SOMETHING nghĩa là tận dụng điều tốt đẹp nhất; tận hưởng điều này




Ví dụ:  Chồng tôi luôn có thể tận hưởng kỳ nghỉ nhờ thư giãn, còn tôi dường như luôn căng thẳng vì rượt theo con cái.
Do not expect to get the best of everything in life. However, at least you can make the best out of what you do get!



Đừng mong có hết mọi thứ trên đời. Nhưng ít nhất ta có thể tận hưởng những gì mình hiện có!

Do not expect to get the best of everything in life. However, at least you can make the best out of what you do get!
